Revised Sydenham to Bankstown Corridor Urban Renewal Corridor Strategy

I’m extremely disappointed in the latest changes in the draft. It seems the planning department has bowed to the pressure of the local action group in removing Durham, Beach, and Macarthur from medium density to single dwelling. Even the government’s expert panel CM+ report recommended high density for this area to maximise the prime location and closeness to the shops. This was a soft decision that was made on a recommendation to remove those streets to keep within the character of the area from 29 participants that represented the whole suburb in a community workshop. I don’t believe there is any character in the area. It’s not like all dwellings on those streets are all single level residents. There’s a mix bag of everything from flats, terraces, apartments and houses. I would like the government to not waste this opportunity to shape Dulwich Hill. Every stone should be turned if apartments really don’t fit this area than alternatives needs to be considered such as low density dwellings town houses and terraces. Those locations I believe is too good to be wasted and left for single dwelling use only.
