Legislative Updates

Dear Planning,
There has been a shameful history with this government of seeking to water down planning laws to make it easier for developers and to remove sustainabiity objects.
I am disappointed with the current review that the government has failed to use this opportunity to address key concerns of environment and community groups, including providing absolute protection for areas of high conservation value, strengthening the rules around biodiversity offsetting and requiring decision makers to better consider and respond to the impacts of climate change. NSW needs a planning system that protects the environment and communities. Long term strategic planning and robust environmental assessment is needed to keep our air and water clean and safe, and protect the health and well-being of local communities.
